Everything Kashukuma makes is produced in Pakistan, a country with one of the world’s oldest and most refined textile traditions. Our artisans are not factory workers running automated looms. They are craftspeople, many of whom learned their skills from the generation before them.

The Embroidery

The stitch that defines us.

Every set in the Kashukuma collection is finished with original hand embroidery, worked across the duvet cover and both pillow shams. This is not a print. It is not an iron-on appliqué. It is thread, pulled through fabric, one stitch at a time, by a person who has spent years learning to do it well. The embroidery designs in our first collection are original illustration: florals, hearts, card suits, animals, trucks and simple forms, with a contemporary and culturally neutral feel.

They are not drawn from regional pattern traditions. What is rooted in place is the making itself, the hand embroidery, worked by skilled artisans in Pakistan. Each design is worked directly onto the finished piece before it is packed and shipped. No two pieces are ever machine-identical. The spacing of a stitch, the tension of a thread: these are the marks of a hand, and they are what make each piece its own. The design is the same on every set. We do not consider this a quality control problem. We consider it the whole point.

The Fabric

100% cotton. Always.

We use two fabrics, and only two. Both are 100% cotton. No blends, no synthetic fibres.

Percale, 200-thread-count

Percale is woven in a one-over-one-under plain weave, which gives it a matte, crisp finish. It is lightweight and breathable, cooler to sleep in, and sharper in appearance. It softens gradually with washing without losing its structure. It also holds a hand-embroidered outline more sharply than sateen, which is why our finer, smaller-scale designs are made in percale.

Cotton Sateen, 300-thread-count

Sateen is woven with a four-over-one-under technique that brings more thread surface to the top of the fabric. The result is a subtle sheen, a softer hand-feel, and a slightly heavier drape. It feels immediately luxurious and ages beautifully. Colour reads deeper on sateen, which is why our saturated designs are made in it.

Made in Pakistan

A textile tradition, not a supply chain.

Pakistan has been producing some of the world’s finest cotton textiles for centuries. The artisans we work with are not anonymous contractors, they are skilled specialists whose knowledge of fabric, thread, and hand-finishing is deep and generational. We are deliberate about the relationships we build with our makers. We visit. We communicate. We consider them essential to what Kashukuma is, not interchangeable vendors, but collaborators.

Small Batches

We make less, on purpose.

Each Kashukuma collection is produced in a limited quantity. We do not manufacture to warehouse. We release each design in a small, hand-embroidered drop. Each drop is a small number of items. A design that finds its people may return in a later drop, and some designs are made only once. The embroidery that makes our pieces distinctive cannot be rushed, automated, or handed off to a machine. So we work within the limits of what our artisans can produce at the standard we require. What this means for you: when you find something you love, don’t wait.
