What is a duvet cover?
A duvet cover is a fabric envelope for a duvet or insert. It closes with buttons, ties or a zip along one edge, and the insert lives inside it. The point of the system is practical: you wash a cover, not a whole quilt, and you can change the look of a bed by changing one piece. It is the European standard, and it is where our embroidery lives.
What is a comforter?
A comforter is a single quilted covering with the filling stitched permanently inside, used on its own without a cover. Its appeal is simplicity, one piece, no assembly. Its drawback is cleaning: a bulky filled piece is awkward to wash and slow to dry.
Which is easier to live with?
A duvet cover, for most people. It washes easily, restyles instantly, and, for a Kashukuma set, keeps the hand embroidery on a piece you can remove, protect and launder gently. A comforter wins only on grab-and-go simplicity.
